Harvesting our Cloth

We last shared our seedlings with you back in June and finally they are ready to harvest!

At the end of the summer, we harvested our pilot flax crop.
After pulling the fibres, we lay them on the ground to ret - which you can learn more about about here.

This process breaks down the outer bark of the stems. We then bundled it into stooks to dry and we shall be processing it for the Flax fibre later this month.

Our Founder Charlotte, tying the stooks with linen scraps.

This is not a project for the impatient - from sowing the seeds back in the early summer to processing the stalks for their fibre - this is the definition of Slow Design!
