5 minutes with…Beulah
We caught up with Beulah founders, Nats, and Lavinia, to hear about how they are on a mission - through fashion - to fight modern slavery.
Beulah has a strong social mandate which is to empower vulnerable women. Incorporating crafts such as hand-weaving and embroidery into Beulah’s collections provides sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable and previously trafficked women who either already possess the skills, or to whom they provide the training and tools to develop new skills.
Beulah customers feel beautiful and empowered, knowing that their choice of clothing has changed lives.
We understand that at the heart of your mission is a desire to eradicate human slavery. How can our readers support your mission?
We provide meaningful employment opportunities to projects run by our Impact Partners that employ and support vulnerable and previously trafficked women. Through purchasing items of clothing, you are supporting our work & helping provide more women with employment, and giving them constant work. However, more simply, we would just love anyone to spread the word about our mission and our dresses!
Tell us more about your newly launched Collective and why you chose Cloth to be a part of it!
With the Beulah Collective, we wish to bring together brands and artists with a social mandate, who have a similar ethos to our own. We believe that change is made through the community of like-minded brands and individuals and together we can further support the causes we believe in.
Here at Cloth we endeavour to use only fabrics woven from sustainably grown fibres. How do Beulah’s creations positively impact our planet?
All of our materials are chosen with intention and care; we use certified organic cotton along with staple fibres such as linen, which require very little water or fertiliser to grow. We focus on natural fibres which biodegrade much more quickly than man-made materials and when washed pollute our waters far less than synthetic fabrics.
